The Young Horse Show Series (YHS) is accepting submissions for the official 2026 program cover image. We invite photographers, artists, owners, riders, and supporters to submit original photographs or artwork featuring horses shown at a YHS event.
Please review the rules and terms and conditions below. By submitting a photo or artwork, you agree to these terms. Submissions should include the image or artwork only; YHS will be responsible for all cover design, text, and layout. Images do not need to match the format shown above, which is for illustrative purposes only.

8. General Terms
1. Eligibility & Subject Matter
- Submissions must feature a horse or pony photographed or depicted at a Young Horse Show Series event.
- Images must be original photographs or original artwork.
- Submissions may include horses, riders, or handlers, provided all necessary permissions are obtained.
2. Ownership & Rights
- You must own the copyright to the submitted image or artwork or have written permission from the copyright holder to submit it.
- If the photographer or artist is not the submitter, a written release or license from the copyright holder must be provided with the submission.
- If identifiable individuals appear in the image, the submitter is responsible for obtaining any necessary model releases.
- YHS is not responsible for resolving disputes regarding copyright ownership or permissions. Any dispute may result in disqualification.
3. Image & File RequirementsTo be considered, submissions must meet the following technical requirements:
- File format: JPEG (.jpg), PNG (.png), or TIFF (.tif)
- Minimum image size: 3000 × 2000 pixels (larger is welcome)
- Resolution: 300 DPI preferred
- Image quality:
- Sharp, well-lit, and in focus
- No heavy compression, watermarks, borders, or embedded text
- Color: Color or black-and-white images are acceptable
4. Use & License
By submitting an image or artwork, you grant YHS a royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive license to:
- Use the selected image as the official program cover for the 2026 season
- Crop, create cut-outs, and otherwise modify the image for design purposes. Editing, retouching, recoloring, or application of filters will be done for layout design purposes and any material changes beyond layout and legibility adjustments will be sent to creator/artist/photographer for final approval. Approval or comment by creator/artist/photographer must be given back to YHS within 48 hours. No response is tantamount to approval.
- Use the image in print and digital formats related to the program and its promotion
5. Compensation & Credit
- No monetary compensation will be provided.
- The selected photographer or artist will receive:
- A dedicated page in the program featuring the image or artwork
- Credit and a short bio or description (to be provided by the creator)
6. Selection Process
- All submissions will be reviewed internally by the YHS team.
- From the submissions received, 3–5 finalists may be selected based on suitability for use as a cover (clarity, composition, print quality, and overall aesthetic).
- YHS may choose to open finalist submissions to a community vote or may select the final image internally.
- Submission does not guarantee selection or publication.
- YHS reserves the right to make the final selection in its sole discretion.
7. Submission Details

- YHS event where the image or artwork originated
- Confirmation of copyright ownership or attached release
- Optional short description or background
8. General Terms
- Submissions that do not meet these requirements may be rejected without notice.
- YHS reserves the right not to select any submission.
- YHS will not provide individual feedback on submissions.
- By submitting, you confirm that all information provided is accurate and that the submission complies with these terms.
